UOS announces new plans for its in-depth community to create China's leading root community for desktop systems

On May 18th, the online launch of Deepin, a desktop system root community based in China and facing the world, was successfully held in Beijing.

At the meeting, UOS announced that it would take the deepin community as the basis to build a desktop operating system root community based in China and facing the world, and to create the root system of China's desktop operating system. Data show that the depth (deepin) community belongs to the Unisys software, since its establishment in 2008, has been the continuous development of 15 years, is the largest, longest history, the highest degree of activity of the open source operating system community; at the same time, the depth of the community is also loved by the global open source enthusiasts, with considerable international influence.

Shen Changxiang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a speech for the conference, saying that building a secure and trustworthy open-source operating system and a Chinese-led root community is an inevitable requirement for the development of cyberspace security in China.

China's open source operating system has entered a stage of rapid development from a toddler. At this stage of the development of the "root" community, it is more important to spread the open source culture, incubate open source projects, build open source mechanisms, respect the power of open source, and integrate the concept of open source into every step of the development of the community.

Wang Yaohua, Head of Deep Community and General Manager of Unix Open Source Community Center, shared the latest development blueprint of Deep Community.

At present, the organizational structure of Deep Community consists of two major parts: the management team and interest groups. The management team consists of community administrators, community assistants, technical committees, and operation committees. The groups are divided into fixed interest groups and temporary interest groups, which will unite more partners to carry out various technical research and grow the incubation capacity of open source projects.

At the same time, Deep Community will further develop its overseas branch communities, adding a new Canadian community on top of the original three overseas communities, and re-launching the Turkish, French, and Italian communities to further enhance its global influence.

In the future, in terms of open source talent investment and cultivation, Deep Community will join hands with 20+ key colleges and universities to cultivate open source talents, and invest 500+ R&D personnel to strengthen the community infrastructure.

In terms of product co-creation, through the community partners to submit and manage the code, the community power will be pooled into the code platform, architecture platform and integration platform, and work together to build the root co-creation version, and build, create and share the results of open source.

In terms of follow-up product planning, deepin V23 version has non-dependent package format, modernized graphic development library and support for next-generation graphic display protocols, and support for atomized updates, forming a brand-new version that crosses upstream and cross-segment collaboration.

In the next two years, deepin community will take "three steps" to build a Chinese-led, internationally influential desktop operating system root community based on deepin community, through planning path, organizational management, code openness, product release, community operation and other dimensions.
